YOUTH DEVELOPMENT UNIT (UNINJO)
The Youth Development Unit is a division within the Instituto Dominicano de Desarrollo Integral, (IDDI). Staring it’s functions in 1992, it’s dedicated to promote, develop and provide young people living in vulnerable sectors of the Dominican Republic, with an area for personal growth by promoting healthy lifestyles, fostering social skills and social participation in their communities.

Vocational technical training
Technical courses to train youth in a productive vocation.

Installation of a reference and counter reference (two-way information)

Main Issues Addressed
The Unidad Integral de Jovenes, deals with all issues, adolescence, self-care, self-esteem, climate change, civil code, children’s rights, family communication, the Dominican Constitution, sexual and reproductive rights, pregnancy, entrepreneurship, stigma and discrimination, gender, life skills, sexual identity, STIs, HIV / AIDS, youth law, AIDS law 55-93, Law of volunteerism, leadership, contraception, migration, human trafficking, life plan, public youth policies, delaying first time sex, prevention of teenage pregnancy, human sexual response, sexual and reproductive health, sexuality, tuberculosis, values, violence, among others.
Legislation
The Unidad Integral de Jovenes, (UNINJO). Is legal under the Youth Act (Act 49-2000), enacted on July 1st, 2000 which aims to establish the legal, policy and institutional framework to guide the actions of state and society in general, towards the definition and implementation, of all policies necessary to achieve the satisfaction of the needs and expectations of young people of the Nation, as well as effective youth participation in the decision-making processes.
The purpose of the Act is to promote the integral development of young people, regardless of gender, religion, political, racial, ethnic or sexual orientation and/or nationality.
This law further provides, that it should contribute to the integration of youth into national life in the political, economic, social, and cultural, as well as, ensure the realization of human rights, civil, political, economic and social conditions that allow young people to fully participate in the development of the nation.
