CENTER FOR SUSTAINABILITY
PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH INCOME GENERATING INITIATIVES
The Center for Sustainability is IDDI’s incubator and private sector holding company and works as an independent center with the objective of diversifying IDDI’s financing sources in order to guarantee the sustainability of the institution.
All companies part of this Center are socially aimed, focusing on employment generation and encourage economic activities that benefit vulnerable sectors of Dominican society.
They promote products, culture, local values and the observation of the environment and include the following initiatives:
CAMI (Whole sale vendor of products)
Wholesale products for “Colmados” (small community markets) of the south region to increase the amount of available food at lower prices.
Industrial Kitchen Batey 4
Offers cooked food at lower prices to workers on the sugar cane fields, local population, local NGOs and businesses.
Organic Alpha Fertilizer
Supplies agriculture with chemical-free pesticides and fertilizers.
Management of Amor al Prójimo Hospital.
Paraíso Hospital: IDDI manages a 24 bed hospital located in Paraíso, on the southwestern shore of the country.
Management of Bayahibe Archaeologic and Botanical Park.
Subcontract management of an eco-touristic park filled with natural attractions, located within the National East Park in Bayahibe, La Altagracia province.
Karaya, S.A.
Company associated to tourist operators whose objective is the sale of high quality craft products, in Santo Domingo and other regions of the country.
Construction Company, S.A.
Construction of low-cost houses.
Blue Nile, S.A.
Is a company dedicated to providing small loans to the informal economic sector in Santo Domingo.
Caribbean Basin Carbon Exchange (CBCX):
A voluntary carbon exchange market for the Caribbean.
Dominican Renewables:
A company involved in the production of biofuels.
