OBJECTIVE AND MISION
Bio-IDDI Center is an autonomous center
created in 2005 with the objective of
developing bio-sustainable communities.
Our vision is to improve the social and
economic conditions of Dominican
Republic poor populations, fighting at
the same time to protect and observe the
environment.
TARGET AREAS
Bio-IDDI began its operations with
projects for reforestation, planting
Jatropha Curcas (piñon de leche) and
Ricinus comunis (higuereta) and
producing oil that contributed to the
development of the most needed rural
communities on the frontier region.
At present, Bio-IDDI works in the
poorest areas of the Dominican Republic
(Provinces: Elias Piña, Barahona,
Independencia, Bahoruco, El Seibo and
National District), developing a wide
range of actions:

Reforestation through
oilseeds growing;

Comprehensive
watershed management;

Development of energy
and subsisence conucos;

Redution of air and
soil contamination;

Prodution of biofuels,
such as oils, biodiesel and
bioethanol;

Promotion of
renewable enegy from biomass,
turning biomass into electric power
or biogas using biodigestors;
-
Creation of
cooperative for the production and
service of electric power.
WHO WE ARE
Our team is composed of 25 people
working full-time, among them we find
project coordinators, professionals,
technicians, social promoters, and
administrative personnel.
Bio-IDDI also cooperates in specific
cases with universities and research
centers through the voluntary/internship
program. |
